As you can see – we finished the week with our history walk of Herne Hill and what a beautiful, sunny day we had for it! We learned all sorts of historical facts about the area including that Thomas Bristowe, who was the man who ensured Brockwell Park became a public space, died the day Brockwell Park was declared a public space.
Throughout the rest of the week we have been learning about negative numbers and rounding in Maths. We discussed where we might use negative numbers such as for temperature and then learned to find the difference between positive and negative numbers by counting through zero. We have also been working hard on our rounding of numbers. We can now round to the nearest 1,000 and some of us can even round to the nearest 10,000!
In Literacy we have been reading The Iron Man by Ted Hughes. So far we have written two recounts as the seagulls who watched The Iron Man arrive on their beach, crash to the ground and put himself back together again – a very bizarre thing indeed! Please come in and read some of the children’s recounts if you can.
Things to Remember;
1. If you haven’t already please can you make sure your child has a water bottle in class as I really don’t want to be sending children out of class to get water if they are really thirsty.
2. Our first school trip is this Thursday 29th September.
Have a great weekend!
