It’s been a busy and fun week in 5CV!
In Maths we have been reviewing multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000. Then we moved on to column multiplication, multiplying 2 and 3 digit numbers by 1 digit. E.g. 33 x 6 or 567 x 5.
In Literacy we started a new book ‘The Lost Thing’ by Shaun Tan. This is a book about a man that finds a lost object and tries to find its home. We have created our own wild and wonderful lost things and written a lost poster, for anyone that might find it! We also learned our autumn poems off by heart and worked on our performance skills. Then we filmed them outside. Watch this space for our full length video of all 5CV’s autumn poems.
In Project we are in full swing with our Forces topic and have already completed 2 experiments (see previous posts!) All our forces lessons will be practical and we will explore all types of forces such as wind resistance, friction, upthrust, leavers and pullies and so on.
In meta-cognition we are continuing to learn to juggle. We learned this week that practise doesn’t make perfect. In order to progress in something you have to do specific practise and know what you need to practise in order to improve.
Next week in class
Maths – long multiplication (e.g. 32 x 45) Factors and multiples and short division
Literacy – writing our own ‘the lost thing’ stories
Have a lovely weekend and wrap up warm!
