Note about Portraits

In the next few weeks we will be painting portraits of a significant person in our lives.  This could be a parent, carer, sibling or someone else that is important to you (not a famous person).  Please could you either bring in a picture of this person or email me a picture at christievincett@rosendale.cc  This is so that the children have the image in front of them while they are sketching and painting.

Thanks so much!

CANCER RESEARCH- Race for Life – Friday 3 February 2017

We are very excited about our Race for Life fundraising event which is taking place next Friday. All children will be able to run, walk or jog to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. Your child should have received a sponsorship form or you can pick one up from the school office or use the one attached here. If you would like to donate online, please visit www.cancerresearchuk.org/support-us/donate . Please remember to quote Rosendale’s Unique Reference Number (URN) 441775131 in your donation.

Children can also come up with fundraising ideas: some children will be selling beautiful wool pompoms at the end of the school day. The pompoms are ideal for all sorts of decorations. If you want to help make more pompoms please contact Rosendale parent Manela Ternero at ternero1, or bring them along on the day. All the money raised will be donated to Cancer Research UK.

Cancer Research also collect donated household goods (men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, accessories including shoes, belts, handbags and jewellery, quality homeware – anything from cushions to crockery, linens, Books, CDs, DVDs, old mobile phones and used printer cartridges). With each bag collected worth £25, have a clearout this weekend and bring in any unwanted items to the school office, where we will bag it up and send it off. Thank you.

This week in 5CV by Callum

This week we had a trip on Monday to the British Museum to learn more about Ancient Egypt.

It was also Chinese New Year so we had an assembly to celebrate.

In Maths we have been learning about adding and subtracting fractions with the same and different denominators.  In English we are still reading ‘The Unforgotten Coat’ and we got to act out a scene from the book which we will be writing about next week.

In Art we are practising our skills for painting a portrait of a significant person in our lives.

In Project we have been learning about the geography of Egypt.  So where in the world it is and what its neighbouring countries are.

Next week in class

Maths – multiplying fractions (and testing on 9 times table)

English – Writing a recount

Project – continuing with Ancient Egypt

Don’t forget we have a trip on Tuesday 31 January to Chinatown.  Be sure to practise your chopstick skills 5CV!

Have a lovely weekend.
