Happy Easter

A great last week of term…aren’t the weeks just flying by!

Another jam packed week full of scratch maths, typing up newspaper reports and making skylines of New York.  As well as having a fantastic speaker in to talk about our current topic – Climate Change (see link below.)

A big thank you to those that came for parents evening last night and I look forward to meeting others in the weeks after Easter.

Have a great couple of weeks break and see you soon for the summer term.

Parents Evening

Dear Parents

I have allocated times to all parents that have bought slips back.  Unfortunately, all my appointments are now full so if you haven’t got a time for Thursday and would like to meet on another day please email me at christievincett@rosendale.cc to arrange a suitable time.

Thanks so much.

Poetry book

We had a fantastic morning of poetry on Friday and you will have a chance to read the poems as we are compiling a book of the poems for children and parents to buy.  These will include not just the ones read out on Friday but a variety of others as well. The cost of the book will be approximately £4 and all profits will be donated to Comic Relief. We need an idea of the demand so we are asking those who are interested in purchasing a copy to let us know using the tear-off pre-order form on the back of the newsletter, extras available at the office.  Please leave completed forms at the school office. Thank you.

This week in 5CV

This week has been packed full of learning and fun.

In Maths we have been working on our percentages and finding percentages of different numbers e.g. 50% of 70, 10% of 120

English has been fun as we have been writing newspaper articles of Phillipe Petit’s tightrope walk between the Twin Towers.  Next week our classroom will be a newsroom as we type up our finished articles.

We have had to put project on the back burner as we have been writing poems for the poetry slam we had today as part of Comic Relief.  Everyone in 5CV wrote their own poems about friendship.  We then voted for the best poem and the best performer.  Naeem’s poem was selected and Herbie was selected to perform it.  Herbie did such a great job at his performance and even won a prize!

Next week

Maths – We will be using our skills on scratch maths in the ICT suite

English – typing up our newspaper articles

Project – Climate Change

Have a sunny weekend!
