Dear 5CV

Wow – what a pleasure this year has been!  You have shown yourselves what incredible people you are and have persevered through all the challenges you have faced.  I will miss teaching each and every one of you and I hope this song (see link below!) will always be a reminder of our time together as well as a reminder to never give up no matter what life throws at you.

A BIG thank you to all the parents for the thoughtful and generous gifts and for being so supportive all year.

Year 5 Sports Day – Wed 19 July

Dear Parents / Carers

Please can you ensure your child brings a PE kit in to school tomorrow as we will be doing sports all day at the fields.  Lunch will be in school as normal.

Kate, Jane, Matthew, Giles, Debs and Dave would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who sponsored our 40 mile ‘Trek Through the Night’ walk. We set off at midnight and we all crossed the finish line at 3.30pm yesterday (Sunday).   It was one of the hardest things we have ever done and we were one of very few teams who crossed the finish line with all members standing.  Knowing that we had everyone’s support made such a difference.

Just a quick reminder that parents/carers are welcome in class tomorrow (Thursday) from 2:30pm.  We will be showcasing our science experiments as well as it being a chance for you to look through their books and ask me any questions you might have.

A fun-filled and hands on science workshop yesterday afternoon at Elmgreen. 5CV got to be proper scientists; trying to discover who had stolen all the sugary doughnuts from the science lab.

Secondary Transfer & PGL Meeting

Rosendale Summer Fair – Saturday 1 July – 1pm – 4pm

 

It’s the Rosendale Summer Fair on Saturday.  A reminder that all this week the PTA are selling raffle tickets in the blue hut before and after school.  The raffle will be drawn at the summer fair on Saturday.

Entry to fair is via the Turney Road gate. As well of lots of fun activities and crafts there will be lots of challenges (athletic and fun!) and performances from our very talented KS1 and KS2 Choirs, Steel Pan band and our orchestra.

Parent Open Afternoon – Thurs 13 July

I sent a letter home today inviting you in to the classroom on Thursday 13 July instead of the planned date of Friday 14 July.

South Downs Fundraiser

Call them crazy but starting at midnight on the 15th July, Miss Atkins, Mrs Boothroyd, Mr Criddle, Mrs Salmon and Mr Brokensha will be walking 40 miles along the South Downs Way to raise money for Action Medical Research. This is a charity that funds research into diseases that affect children. They will be ably supported in their endeavour by their driver, Dave – Rosendale’s premises officer – who will hopefully have them back in time for work on the Monday!
